Samsung Galaxy Note 5 vs Apple iPhone 6 Plus:Comparison

Samsung could announce the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 in August, giving the iPhone 6 Plus a formidable new phablet rival to contend with.
Based on multiple rumours and speculations across the Web, the specs of iPhone 6S Plus and Galaxy Note 5 are compared. Based on what we know – or think we know – so far, we thought we'd take a look at how the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is likely to compare to the current large-screen champion, the iPhone 6 Plus.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 vs iPhone 6 Plus

Samsung Galaxy Note 5: Metal edge, curved glass back
iPhone 6 Plus: Anodised aluminium back, curved glass display
you Want to know what the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 looks like? Naturally, we're not entirely sure, but it's likely to look quite a lot like the Samsung Galaxy S6.That means it'll have a nicely rounded metal rim and a glass-covered back . One interesting detail gleaned from the internet rumour mill suggests that the Note 5's glass back will be curve at the edges, which should mean that it sits nicely in the hand.
Ultimately,  it could give the iPhone 6 Plus a bit of a shoeing on the looks front. We're not saying that the largest ever iPhone is ugly, but it's definitely the plainest iPhone we've seen in some time, and it's also a little bigger than we would have liked thanks to its chunky top and bottom bezels. There is a certain freshness to Apple's edgeless design, however, after four successive generations of angular iPhones. The display has been made to curve gently into the rounded aluminium body, making it all feel quite seamless. It's a very nice phone to hold, though not for long periods – this thing weighs 172g after all.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 vs iPhone 6 Plus: Screen

Samsung Galaxy Note 5: 5.7-inch 2,560 x 1,440 Super AMOLED
iPhone 6 Plus: 5.5-inch 1,920 x 1,080 IPS LCD
The iPhone 6 Plus was widely held to have one of the finest displays on the market upon release. It was big, yes, and at 1080p it was also the sharpest iPhone display yet.

One phone to challenge the iPhone 6 Plus screen's supremacy recently was the Samsung Galaxy S6, and we're expecting the Galaxy Note 5 to be as good if not better than its little brother on that front.
According to internet reports, it'll be a 5.7-inch QHD Super Amoled display, which sounds identical to last year's Galaxy Note 4 (pictured above). Given the improvements Samsung made to the aforementioned S6 screen in terms of colour accuracy and brightness, though, we're confident that this will be a notable improvement. It looks like the Galaxy Note 5 could be set to trump the iPhone 6 Plus for pure eye-popping screen appeal.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 vs iPhone 6 Plus: Performance

Samsung Galaxy Note 5: 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7422 processor, 4GB RAM
iPhone 6 Plus: 64-bit dual-core Apple A8 processor, 1GB RAM
It's always tricky to compare the performance of iOS and Android phones, because they run on such different operating systems.
The Galaxy Note 5 is rumoured to pack a new custom Exynos 7422 CPU, which could be backed by 4GB of RAM. This will make it even faster than the already-speedy Galaxy S6.

In simple benchmarking terms, then, the Galaxy Note 5 will probably outstrip the iPhone 6 Plus quite comfortably. Apple's phone features the dual-core A8 processor, which excels in single-core performance, and is merely decent in multi-core terms. in the world of smartphones single-core performance still counts for an awful lot. Add in the undeniable advantage of Apple running both the software AND the hardware show, and you have a phone that arguably feels faster than any other. And yes, we'd include anything we've seen from Samsung in that. An impressive quad-core GPU helps the iPhone 6 Plus further.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 vs iPhone 6 Plus: Camera
Samsung Galaxy Note 5: 16-megapixel sensor, optical image stabilisation, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, 4K video recording
iPhone 6 Plus: 8-megapixel sensor, optical image stabilisation, 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera
You know the drill. Samsung releases a new high-end phone, it's really good at photos, but not as good as the current iPhone.
Except, with the Galaxy S6 (pictured below), Samsung broke that pattern. It produced a true iPhone camera beater – at least in terms of pure image quality and manual flexibility.

We're expecting the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to feature a similar 16-megapixel camera with OIS. In fact, going by previous form, we're expecting the Galaxy Note 5's camera to be even better, just as the Galaxy Note 4's camera was better than the Galaxy S5's.
The iPhone 6 Plus camera, for its part, remains the best camera for simply firing and forgetting. It's so easy and pleasant to use, and it's really hard to get anything but a clean shot – provided there's sufficient lighting. It even has the OIS system that the iPhone 6 lacks.
Still, we're expecting the Note 5 to have the measure of the iPhone 6 Plus from the off – in a photographic sense, at least.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 vs iPhone 6 Plus: Battery

Samsung Galaxy Note 5: 4100mAh
iPhone 6 Plus: 2915mAh
We're not entirely sure how big the Galaxy Note 5's battery will be, but rumour has it that it might be a whopping 4100mAh. That's rather capacious, to say the least.
It's arguable that given the disappointing nature of the Galaxy S6 battery (a 2550mAh unit), Samsung had to come up with something significantly bigger.
While the iPhone 6 Plus battery is 'only' 2915mAh, it's always been the case that iOS phones need less juice than their Android counterparts. Trust us, for an iPhone, this is a massive battery. It's perhaps not surprising, then, that the iPhone 6 Plus has by far the best battery life of any iPhone. It's fantastic, and can last a whole two days if you keep the brightness down to around 50 percent. It's possible that Samsung will need that whopping battery just to draw level with the iPhone 6 Plus on battery life – especially with that pixel-dense display and hungry Android OS to power.

 Verdict

You can bet your bottom dollar that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will outstrip the iPhone 6 Plus on the vast majority of technical points, with a better display and camera, and a faster processor.
It took some massive strides in that direction when it came to comparing the Samsung Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6, and a large part of that is down to the company's revised view of design and its newfound love of premium materials.
With the Galaxy Note 5 certain to borrow more than a few tricks from the S6, we should be on for a similarly tight battle between these two super-sizers.
